Magazine Panorama
Writing Excerpt
Magazine Panorama is an architectural magazine founded in 2013, and published until 2019. In every issue, the 200–page publication features one bus route through Seoul. Rather than focusing on famous architecture, Panorama features unknown architecture found on the daily bus routes.
I designed the magazine from 2015 to 2019 (the 4th–7th issues), and participated in the Unlimited Edition (Seoul Art Book Fair) every year. The 2015 (4th issue) was awarded the grand prize of Korea Public Design.
The theme of the 2015 issue (Issue 4, Bus No. 150) is “The Space Where Editors Live.” Bus No. 150 is one of the longest buses, and features nearly the whole variety of Seoul’s housing types.
The theme of the 2016 issue (Issue 5, Bus No. 2016) is “Now.” The bus route number and the year
of publication are the same. This issue captures contemporary scenes of Seoul.
The theme of the 2017 Issue (Issue 6, Bus No. 405) is “From the Provinces.” This records Seoul’s architectural landscape from the perspective of people born and raised outside Seoul. This sparks a dialogue between Seoul natives and people from the provinces.
The final issue of Panorama (Issue 7) records various meaningful places in Seoul that editors hope to remember.
