Commissioners: the House of Woon Kyung

The historic “House of Woon Kyung” is the traditional Korean house recognizing that it had a nearly 400 years long family. In the Spring of 2019, the House of Woon Kyung invited the pattern and surface designer Chang Eungbok and the furniture designer Ha Jihoon.

This exhibition aimed to communicate the experience of “Cha–gyeong,” a traditional Korean architectural idea meaning borrowed landscape. As the idea of “Cha–gyeong” stems from the importance of incorporating the outside landscape as part of the architecture, I assimilated their works with the pre–existent house and its surroundings by exhibition design.
